BDR corporal Jainal Abedin's death at the Kashimpur jail in Gazipur was the fourth such case there.
Previously, the three more of the jail's inmates, all of them from the BDR, had died of different causes.
Jainal Abedin died on Wednesday afternoon at 4.45pm as he fell during his ablution before prayers.
Kashimpur jailer Md Matiar Rahman said Jainal was first taken to the jail hospital and later, at around 6pm, shifted to the Gazipur Sadar Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
The acting resident medical officer of the hospital, Md Qamar Uddin, told reporters Jainal had already been dead by the time he was brought to the hospital.
The dead was a corporal of Rifles Battalion 24 and was accused as a rebel in the BDR mutiny of Feb 25-26 in 2009 where the riflesmen killed about 70 people including 57 army officers, deputed to the BDR.
Jainal is named in a case at the Lalbagh Police Station of Dhaka.
About 60 BDR members had died since the mutiny took place, according to different human rights organisations quoting media reports.
Deputy jailer Md Shahiar said the dead body was handed over to his younger brother on Thursday afternoon.
Jainal Abedin was arrested on Apr 11 last year and sent to Dhaka central jail and later on June 26 the same year he was transferred to Kashimpur.
